VIVA LA FRANCE!

Granted, this one is going to take a bit more planning, but...

There's some pretty good chow in France and it's not all snails and smashed up livers. Let's grab a sandwich at a sandwich shop, tack on a nice chunk of flan, throw in a 3 euro bottle of wine, and settle into a nice scenic spot for a lovely little picnic.

Hit the city market, snag some fruits, cheese (lots of good cheeses in France), olives de Provence, and of course a baguette, and you're ready for whatever Nice can throw at you.

Au revoir!

The Shed BBQ Blues Fest

Time to become a ShedHead.

Sign up at the Shed BBQ off I-10 near Vancleave, MS (Exit 57 - between Biloxi and Pascagoula). I used to go when it was no kidding a shed. It's a bit bigger now and has a few more branches spread across the Gulf Coast.

The Blues Fest goes from roughly 2 pm until 10 pm with 6-8 different groups (and tickets were only like $25).

We saw some classic blues legends.

Take a lawn chair, kick back and enjoy some blues while eating some great 'Q. Pretty good time.

Go Find It In Mississippi

Back Roads of Mississippi. God's country. You hit the roads and find it. You may find some that's even better.

They don't make 'em like this anymore.

This next one is OLD SCHOOL. I'll give you a hint: Shubuta.

Another Great Hole in the Wall

Red Bay Grocery. Red Bay, FL.

I've driven by it numerous times and never stopped. Finally at Christmas, I pulled the trigger and pulled the truck over. I went for the prime rib, two veggies, bread, and drink for, I guess, a full $6. PLUS some fabulous peppermint sweet potato pie (?). It was awesome. Bunch of jelly and stuff on the wall to buy. Grape Nehi's in the cooler.

So wouldn't you know it, about 2 days later, the place BURNS TO THE GROUND! Just my luck. Stop, eat, love it, and commit it to putting it on the blog...DON'T BOTHER, it burned down.

The good news is, it's May, and I think it's open. Good on 'em for a quick rebuild. I'll stop in again.
